It’s very easy to think an advert for a paint brand will lead to a rich visual feast of an ad. However, in this new ad for Dulux from BBH they have taken a different approach.
Painting a room in your house is such a small change, but it’s a change which can play an active role in that person’s life in that it can carry with it a lot of positivity. The ad shows how a bedroom is changed into a love nest through painting it, which inadvertently acts to improve the couple’s lives that live in it.
This ad, ironically, didn’t need to be overly referenced with colour; the paint was almost an incidental moment in the ad and yet it added a great emotional touch to it, capturing the joy of home life and simply pairing the brand to that.
We like the picture BBH are trying to ‘paint’ here (see what we did there?!). Anyway, (bad) jokes aside, we enjoyed the move away from the actual product, pushing this into the background to play a lesser role. The focus now being to connect with the audience and their everyday lives.
After being removed from the last ad, BBH restores some brand authenticity with a small feature from the Dulux dog. Great touch.
