We had one overriding opinion after seeing this advert… awful. When you think Audi, you think sleek, powerful, elegant. You definitely don’t think vampires. So why they chose vampires to promote their new LED headlights we do not know.
We accept the whole vampire thing has been a hit over recent years however, this is now a theme which is decreasing in popularity, so surely Audi could have thought of something better? We mean, anything else could have worked – we can instantly think of alternative themes, ‘guiding you through the dark’, ‘brightening up your world’… you get the idea. However, this new ad which sees the said LED lights killing off the vampires one-by-one, is Audi’s choice of offering
Released in time for the Superbowl, Audi did include one clever concept which involved social media and allowed their fans to ‘unlock’ the ad prior to the big day with a Facebook challenge ‘Race the light’. Yet, we’re pretty sure that there was a resounding disappointment once the ad was unlocked.
Audi’s Chief Marketing Officer, Scott Keogh was quoted saying they wanted to create ‘a conversation about whether or not it is time for us to move on from the omnipresent vampire trend…’. Well they certainly managed this but whether or not they managed to create ‘an entertaining spot that clearly focused on the LED headlights’ is definitely debateable.
